Springfield, Missouri – Temperatures are climbing fast across Missouri, with a sharp warmup underway that will push highs into the 80s by Friday afternoon and even higher into Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, highs will rise from near 70°F Wednesday to around 80°F Thursday, then surge into the mid to upper 80s by Friday and Saturday. That puts temperatures roughly 20 degrees above normal for mid-March, with Springfield expected to reach about 86°F Friday and near 88°F Saturday.

Communities along I-44, including Joplin, Springfield, and Rolla, will see consistent warming under dry skies. Overnight lows will also trend upward into the 50s and near 60°F by Saturday morning, limiting overnight cooling and extending the stretch of above-normal warmth.

While the heat remains below advisory levels, it can still impact outdoor plans and increase fatigue for those working outside. Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take breaks during peak afternoon hours.

Dry weather holds through the weekend, with temperatures easing slightly by Sunday. Additional updates are possible as this early-season warm stretch peaks heading into the weekend.
