Detroit, Michigan – Gusty winds and persistent flurries are creating minor travel slowdowns across southeast Michigan today, with drivers facing brief visibility drops and cold air lingering through the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, wind gusts could reach up to 25 mph through late afternoon Wednesday, while scattered flurries remain more widespread than steady snow. Highs will top out between 35°F and 40°F, keeping road surfaces cold enough for isolated slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses along I-75, I-94, and I-696.
Conditions begin to shift overnight into Thursday morning as temperatures moderate. Lows fall into the upper 20s to low 30s, with a brief chance for light icing or a few snowflakes early, mainly north and west of Detroit. By afternoon, temperatures rise into the 40s, and any precipitation transitions to light rain.
The warming trend accelerates Friday, with highs reaching the upper 40s to low 60s across southern Michigan. Metro Detroit could approach 60°F, marking a sharp turnaround from midweek chill.
Showers return Friday and again Sunday, potentially impacting weekend travel. Until then, drivers should remain cautious during wind gusts today and prepare for changing road conditions as temperatures fluctuate.
