Wakefield, Virginia – Drivers across Virginia will see ideal travel conditions through the end of the workweek as dry air and warming temperatures take hold by Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, skies remain mostly clear through Wednesday before transitioning to partly cloudy Thursday and increasing cloud cover by Friday. High temperatures will steadily climb from the mid-40s Wednesday into the mid to upper 60s across much of the state by Friday afternoon.

Central and western Virginia, including Richmond and Petersburg, are expected to reach between 63°F and 68°F Friday, while the Eastern Shore stays slightly cooler in the 53°F to 58°F range. Overnight lows remain chilly, dipping into the upper 20s Wednesday night and rising into the mid-30s to near 50°F by Friday night.

The stable pattern means no rain, snow, or ice impacts on major corridors like I-95, I-64, and Route 58. VDOT crews are not anticipating weather-related disruptions, making this one of the smoother travel stretches in recent weeks.

Residents can take advantage of the dry stretch to prepare for spring activities, though cool mornings still require layered clothing.

The warming trend holds into the weekend, with additional cloud cover building and the next system potentially approaching early next week.
