Nashville, TN — Tennessee experienced a wave of severe weather on Saturday, including destructive tornadoes that resulted in at least six fatalities and extensive power outages.
In a northern suburb of Nashville, three deaths were reported, with two adults and a child also losing their lives in Clarksville, approximately 50 miles northwest of the state capital. Mayor Joe Pitts of Clarksville declared a state of emergency and imposed a 9pm curfew for Sunday. He expressed deep sorrow for the affected families, assuring city support during their grieving period. Montgomery County officials confirmed 23 hospitalizations, as Mayor Wes Golding lamented the tragic impact on the community.
As of late Saturday evening, nearly 60,000 residents were without power. The National Weather Service had issued multiple tornado warnings throughout the day.
