Huntsville, Alabama – Another round of freezing temperatures is set to hit the Tennessee Valley within hours, with lows dropping into the mid to upper 20s overnight and creating potential hazards for roads, pipes, and sensitive vegetation by early Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, temperatures will fall between 26°F and 30°F late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, following a chilly day where highs only reached the low to mid-40s. The freeze is expected to last through the early morning commute, especially in sheltered and rural areas.

Across North Alabama, including Huntsville, Decatur, and Florence, residents may encounter patchy frost and isolated slick spots on bridges and overpasses before sunrise. Prolonged cold could also impact exposed plumbing and early spring plants, particularly in low-lying areas where colder air settles overnight.

Conditions begin to shift quickly by Wednesday afternoon, with highs rebounding into the 50s, followed by a steady warm-up. By Thursday, temperatures climb into the upper 60s, then surge into the mid to upper 70s Friday.

The most dramatic change arrives this weekend, when highs reach between 76°F and 81°F across the region. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions in the short term, while staying alert for continued updates as this rapid temperature swing unfolds.
