Fort Worth, Texas – A rapid warm-up is set to grip North and Central Texas within the next 48 hours, with temperatures climbing into the 90s and creating early-season heat risks across the region by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, high pressure will build over the state, pushing temperatures well above seasonal averages beginning Thursday and intensifying through Saturday and Sunday. Dallas-Fort Worth is expected to rise from the upper 80s Thursday to around 90°F Friday, then peak near 93°F over the weekend.
Across North Texas, even hotter pockets are likely. Mineral Wells could reach 97°F by Saturday, while Killeen, Waco, and Cisco climb into the mid-90s. Sherman and Paris are expected to top out near 90°F, while Corsicana and Stephenville push into the low to mid-90s. The widespread heat comes with dry conditions and no rainfall, increasing both dehydration risk and ongoing fire concerns west of I-35.
Residents should limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, drink water frequently, and never leave children or pets in vehicles as temperatures rise quickly inside parked cars.
The heat is expected to persist through the weekend, with additional advisories possible if temperatures continue trending above normal into early next week.
