U.S. Postal Service Announces No Peak Surcharge for Holiday Season; Releases Shipping Deadlines

Chicago, IL – The U.S. Postal Service has confirmed that it will not implement a peak, or demand, surcharge this holiday season, ensuring stable pricing for customers. This decision aligns with their ongoing commitment to affordability, maintaining no extra fees for residential delivery, Saturday delivery, fuel surcharges, or volume minimums. The Postal Service remains a cost-effective choice for mailing and shipping during the festive period. For timely delivery of cards, letters, and packages by December 25th, the following deadlines for 2023 have been announced:

For the Lower 48 States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii):

  • USPS Ground Advantage: December 16
  • First-Class Mail (including greeting cards): December 16
  • Priority Mail: December 18
  • Priority Mail Express: December 20

Alaska:

  • USPS Ground Advantage: December 16
  • First-Class Mail: December 16
  • Priority Mail: December 18
  • Priority Mail Express: December 20

Hawaii:

  • USPS Ground Advantage: December 16
  • First-Class Mail: December 16
  • Priority Mail: December 16
