Kentucky – Cold wind sweeps across western Kentucky this morning, rattling road signs and pushing gray clouds over the Ohio River. Drivers around Paducah are already noticing brisk conditions, and scattered snow flurries could briefly reduce visibility later today.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. for western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, and southwest Indiana. West winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph may continue early today before gradually easing.
Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and snap small tree limbs. Power outages remain possible in isolated spots across McCracken, Graves, and Ballard counties.
Meteorologists say colder air moving in behind a passing weather system may trigger light snow or sleet bursts later today, mainly during the afternoon. Any snow should be light and primarily accumulate on grassy surfaces.
Drivers along Interstate 24, U.S. Route 60, and U.S. Route 62 should remain alert for sudden visibility drops if flurries develop. Wind gusts may also make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles, especially on bridges across the Ohio River.
Temperatures stay chilly for another day. Highs reach only around 37°F today, followed by a sharp drop tonight as skies clear and winds ease.
A gradual warming trend begins by midweek. Sunshine returns Tuesday with highs near 40°F, followed by a noticeable jump into the lower 60s by Wednesday as milder spring air spreads across western Kentucky.
By Thursday, temperatures climb into the low 70s, marking a dramatic turnaround after the brief March cold snap.
For now, secure outdoor items and drive carefully during gusty winds today. Meteorologists will continue monitoring the potential for brief snow bursts and changing travel conditions.
