Tennessee — Wind whips down city streets and rattles loose signs across Nashville this morning. A few light snow showers drift through the gray sky while brisk gusts tug at coats and umbrellas. Roads remain mostly wet, but sudden flurries could briefly reduce visibility before midday.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. CDT for much of Middle Tennessee. West winds of 15 to 20 mph are pushing through the region with gusts up to 35 mph. Isolated snow showers may develop through early afternoon. Little or no snow accumulation is expected, but bursts of flakes could still catch drivers off guard.
Morning commuters along I-40, I-65, and I-24 may notice brief visibility drops as snow showers move through. The wind may also shove high-profile vehicles slightly across lanes, especially on bridges and elevated roadways. Secure loose outdoor items and keep both hands on the wheel.
Temperatures climb only into the lower 40s today, keeping the air brisk and unsettled. By tonight, skies gradually clear while temperatures slide toward 24 degrees. Any remaining moisture on pavement could refreeze late tonight. That creates a small flash-freeze risk on untreated roads and neighborhood streets.
Conditions improve quickly as the week continues. Sunshine returns Tuesday with highs near 41 degrees. Milder air spreads across Middle Tennessee by Wednesday afternoon when temperatures approach 60 degrees.
The warm trend strengthens late week. By Thursday, Nashville could reach 72 degrees, delivering a strong burst of early spring warmth across the region.
Meteorologists say the sharp warmup reflects a shifting national weather pattern. After all, a powerful storm spinning over the Great Lakes is helping pull milder air northward.
