Indiana – Flags snap sharply above downtown Fort Wayne this morning as a strong spring storm system charges across the Midwest. Warm air pushes temperatures toward 70°F today, but powerful winds will quickly become the bigger concern across northern Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, a Wind Advisory begins at 11 a.m. and continues through late tonight for Allen County and much of northern Indiana. South winds will strengthen to 25–35 mph with gusts between 45 and 55 mph, strong enough to toss loose objects and snap small tree limbs. Brief power outages are possible as the strongest gusts move through.

Drivers should stay alert along Interstate 69, Interstate 469, and U.S. 30, where crosswinds could push high-profile vehicles and trailers. Open farmland west of Fort Wayne may experience the strongest gusts by mid-afternoon. Conditions will feel almost spring-like early, but winds may turn chaotic as showers and thunderstorms move in later.

Meteorologists are also tracking a narrow severe weather window between roughly 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Damaging wind gusts remain the primary concern as storms sweep across northern Indiana and into southern Michigan and northwest Ohio.

Behind the front, temperatures tumble quickly. By Monday morning, colder air returns and scattered snow showers become possible across northern Indiana. Light flakes could briefly dust grassy areas while gusty winds continue to whip across the region.

Looking ahead, early-week chill lingers before a quick rebound later in the week. Temperatures climb again toward the mid-50s to upper-60s, offering a reminder that spring is gradually gaining ground despite the turbulent start.

Secure outdoor furniture, charge devices, and allow extra travel time this afternoon as winds peak.
