Massachusetts – Gray clouds hover over Boston Harbor this morning while brisk air sits near 33°F. The early calm hides a fast-developing storm system that could bring damaging winds to eastern Massachusetts by Monday afternoon and night.

Skies remain partly sunny through much of the day with temperatures climbing to about 44°F. The air still feels crisp, but conditions remain relatively quiet for now.

Clouds thicken tonight as the next storm organizes across the Mid-Atlantic and pushes toward New England. Light rain may begin toward early morning, gradually spreading across eastern Massachusetts.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton are tracking strengthening winds as the storm approaches. A High Wind Watch has been issued for parts of eastern Massachusetts and nearby Rhode Island.

Temperatures jump to around 62°F Monday, a brief taste of early spring warmth. Rain develops during the day, and visibility could drop along major routes including I-90, I-93, and Route 1.

The biggest concern arrives later in the day. Strong southerly winds may gust up to 60 mph, especially Monday afternoon through late evening.

Those winds could knock down tree limbs and lead to scattered power outages. High-profile vehicles may experience difficult travel across bridges and open highways near the coast.

Rain continues Monday night before the storm moves offshore.

By St. Patrick’s Day Tuesday, conditions improve as sunshine returns across the Boston area. High temperatures reach about 46°F, though gusty winds may still be noticeable.

Midweek stays cool but calmer. Wednesday brings sunny skies and highs near 40°F, followed by slightly milder weather Thursday with temperatures approaching 46°F.

Long-range trends suggest warmer spring air may begin building across New England later next week.

If you’re heading across Boston Monday afternoon or evening, secure outdoor items and allow extra travel time. Are winds already picking up in your neighborhood?
