Fort Worth, Texas – Loose outdoor objects and high-profile vehicles could be pushed around across North Texas Sunday as a powerful cold front sweeps through the region, bringing north winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph during the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the front will enter western North Texas around 9 a.m. Sunday, bringing strengthening winds that will quickly spread east across the Metroplex.

The strongest winds are expected to reach Dallas–Fort Worth around 1 p.m., give or take a couple of hours, before pushing south toward Waco, Temple, and Killeen by about 3 p.m. Communities farther southeast, including Palestine and parts of East Texas, could see peak winds between 4 and 6 p.m.

Wind gusts approaching 50 mph could make travel difficult on major highways including Interstate 35, Interstate 20, and Interstate 30, particularly for trucks and other high-profile vehicles. Brief blowing debris and falling tree limbs are also possible where the strongest gusts occur.

Residents are urged to secure patio furniture, trash bins, and other loose outdoor items before the front arrives. Power crews could also see scattered outages if gusts reach the higher end of the expected range.

Strong winds should continue through Sunday evening before gradually weakening overnight as the cold front pushes southeast of North Texas. Additional wind advisories could be issued if gust potential increases.
