Shreveport, LA – Strong storms could move into northwest Louisiana Sunday afternoon, bringing the potential for severe weather across the Ark-La-Tex before a sharp cooldown early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 1 p.m. Sunday with a 60% chance of precipitation, and some storms could become severe as warmer air and increasing winds build across the region. High temperatures will climb to around 84°F before storms begin developing.

Communities across Caddo, Bossier, and Webster parishes, including Shreveport, Bossier City, Benton, and Greenwood, may see gusty winds and heavy rainfall during the afternoon and evening hours. South winds will increase to 10 to 20 mph, helping fuel storm development ahead of an approaching cold front.

Storms could continue into Sunday night with thunderstorms before 10 p.m., followed by scattered showers through the overnight hours. Winds will shift northwest behind the front and could gust up to 30 mph as colder air spreads into the region.

Temperatures will drop dramatically Monday with highs reaching only around 51°F, followed by a chilly night with lows near 31°F across the Shreveport metro.

Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware Sunday afternoon and evening as stronger storms develop across northwest Louisiana.
