Kanawha Valley Forecast: Rain Monday Could Turn to Snow as Temperatures Crash

Charleston, WV – A warm and sunny weekend across the Kanawha Valley will give way to rain and a sharp cool-down early next week, with snow possible by Monday night.

Saturday will remain mostly sunny with highs near 57°F, according to the National Weather Service. Winds will remain calm through the day.

Tonight stays partly cloudy with lows around 43°F, as light southeast winds develop overnight.

Sunday brings a taste of spring with partly sunny skies and highs climbing to around 74°F. Gusty south winds between 13 and 17 mph, with gusts up to 34 mph, will develop during the afternoon.

Rain chances arrive late Sunday night, with a 50% chance of showers after 2 a.m. and overnight lows around 52°F.

The next storm system moves in Monday evening, bringing rain after 5 p.m. that could mix with snow overnight. Highs will reach around 60°F, but colder air will quickly move in after sunset.

By Monday night, rain is expected to transition to snow showers, especially after 8 p.m., as temperatures drop sharply to around 21°F.

Tuesday turns colder with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 32°F, followed by chilly overnight lows near 20°F.

Temperatures slowly rebound by midweek with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 48°F Wednesday across the Charleston area.
