Burlington, VT – A messy stretch of weather is expected across northern Vermont this weekend, with snow showers, rain and strong winds before a brief surge of warmer air arrives Monday.
Snow and rain showers will move across the Burlington area through the afternoon, with highs near 39°F, according to the National Weather Service. Some light snow accumulation is possible, though daytime totals should remain under half an inch.
Rain showers may develop briefly mid-afternoon before snow showers return later this evening.
Tonight brings a 30% chance of snow showers after 7 p.m., with skies gradually clearing overnight and lows dropping to around 21°F.
Sunday will stay mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow or rain showers and highs again near 39°F.
Conditions turn windier Sunday night as clouds thicken ahead of a stronger storm system. South winds could gust up to 47 mph, with a chance of rain late and overnight lows around 37°F.
A significant warmup arrives Monday, when rain becomes likely after 2 p.m. Temperatures could surge to around 61°F, unusually mild for mid-March. Breezy conditions will continue with gusts approaching 48 mph.
Rain becomes steadier Monday night with showers likely and breezy conditions, and rainfall totals between ½ and ¾ inch possible.
Colder air returns Tuesday with highs near 35°F, followed by much colder temperatures Tuesday night as lows plunge to around 13°F across the Champlain Valley.
Skies begin to clear by Wednesday with mostly sunny conditions and highs near 32°F across the Burlington region.
