Philadelphia, PA – Drivers across Philadelphia could run into slick roads and reduced visibility before the Monday morning commute as steady rain and possible thunderstorms spread into the region overnight.

Saturday stays quiet but breezy across southeastern Pennsylvania. Sunshine dominates the day, though west winds could gust near 35 mph, enough to shake loose outdoor items and create choppy conditions along the Delaware River.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the pattern shifts late Sunday night as rain begins before 2 a.m. Monday, followed by scattered thunderstorms between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Showers continue through the day Monday as temperatures climb sharply to around 68°F, nearly 15 degrees above seasonal averages.

Rainfall totals could reach 0.25 to 0.50 inches, which may lead to standing water on major routes including I-95, I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), and Roosevelt Boulevard during the morning drive. Gusty south winds up to 40 mph could also slow traffic on bridges and elevated roadways.

Showers continue Monday night before colder air moves in, allowing rain to briefly mix with wet snow before daybreak Tuesday. Little accumulation is expected, but a few flakes could linger before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Skies clear by midweek with sunshine returning Wednesday, though additional advisories may develop if heavier rain bands organize overnight Sunday into Monday.
