Philadelphia, PA – Drivers across the Philadelphia region will see a quiet but breezy start to the weekend before a powerful round of rain and possible thunderstorms arrives late Sunday night and continues into Monday, bringing soaking rainfall and gusty winds across southeastern Pennsylvania.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, Saturday will remain sunny and breezy with high temperatures near 53°F and west winds between 15 and 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Conditions remain dry through most of Sunday as temperatures climb to around 56°F under partly sunny skies.
The weather turns more active late Sunday night. Rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, with rainfall chances climbing to 100 percent across the Philadelphia metro area.
Heavier showers and possible thunderstorms may impact the Monday morning commute along Interstate 95, Interstate 76, and the Schuylkill Expressway, where wet pavement and gusty winds could slow traffic.
Temperatures will surge ahead of the storm system, reaching around 68°F Monday afternoon, before a sharp drop follows Monday night. Rain could mix with snow showers late Monday night as temperatures fall toward the low 30s.
Residents should prepare for wet travel early Monday and monitor forecasts for possible thunderstorm advisories. Additional updates may be issued as the system approaches the region.
