Roslyn, Washington – Drivers traveling across the eastern slopes of the Washington Cascades could face slick and hazardous roads before daybreak Saturday as a burst of mountain snowfall continues through the early morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday for the upper slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest, including communities near Roslyn and Easton.

Forecasters expect an additional 1 to 4 inches of snow before the storm weakens. Winds gusting up to 40 mph may blow snow across exposed mountain roads, reducing visibility and making travel more difficult.

Mountain routes near Snoqualmie Pass along Interstate 90 could become especially slick overnight as snow accumulates on already cold road surfaces.

Officials urge drivers to delay travel if possible and carry winter safety supplies such as tire chains, blankets, flashlights, and extra clothing if travel cannot be avoided.

Conditions should gradually improve after sunrise Saturday as snowfall tapers off, though icy spots may linger on higher elevation roads through the morning commute.
