Illinois State Police Make Arrest in Fatal Summer Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Crash in Kankakee County

Kankakee County, Illinois – The Illinois State Police have arrested a Momence man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run motorcycle crash that occurred in August. 

The incident originally took place near 4000 North Road and 14000 East Road in Kankakee County, led to the death of 52-year-old motorcycle driver Bert N. Lawton of Grant Park, IL. 

Nineteen-year-old Jorge Campos of Momence was taken into custody and faces charges including Reckless Homicide and Failure to Report a Crash Involving Death. The arrest made Thursday follows a thorough investigation by the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation.  

Full details surrounding the investigation and subsequent arrest have yet to be released. Campos is currently held at the Kankakee County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
