Indiana – Wind rattles street signs across Fort Wayne this morning as gusts sweep through neighborhoods and open farmland. Commuters crossing bridges along the St. Joseph River feel the push of strong crosswinds. The blustery start signals a sharp swing in March weather that will flip from wind to spring warmth, then back toward snow early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, a High Wind Warning remains active until 8 p.m., with wind gusts reaching 55 mph across Allen County and much of northeastern Indiana. Drivers along I-69, US-30, and US-24 may encounter sudden crosswinds, especially on elevated roadways and open rural stretches.

Clouds linger through the morning while temperatures climb toward 49 degrees. A few passing rain or snow showers may briefly appear early in the day, though most areas remain dry by afternoon.

Winds gradually ease tonight as skies partially clear. Temperatures drop to around 28 degrees, allowing cooler air to settle across northern Indiana.

Saturday brings calmer conditions. Mostly cloudy skies dominate with highs near 44 degrees. Roads remain dry for most travel, giving the region a short break from active weather.

By Sunday, the pattern flips again. Southerly winds pull warmer air northward across Indiana and Ohio. Temperatures surge to 69 degrees in Fort Wayne during the afternoon. Clouds increase later in the day, and scattered showers could develop toward evening.

Rain becomes widespread Sunday night as the next system moves through the Midwest. Wet roads may slow traffic during late evening travel across the city.

Colder air returns quickly Monday. Rain could mix with snow during the afternoon, especially as temperatures fall and winds increase again. While accumulation appears limited, slushy spots could develop on untreated roads.

Traveling Sunday night or Monday morning? Conditions may shift quickly between rain and snow across northeastern Indiana.
