New York – A quiet but cold morning settles across the Capital Region, where crisp air and pale sunshine reflect off rooftops and empty sidewalks. Temperatures sit near 28°F around Albany and Rensselaer early today, but the calm start will not last long. Clouds will thicken and a messy rain-snow mix is expected to develop later today, potentially slowing travel across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, rain and snow showers will likely develop after mid-afternoon as temperatures climb toward 40°F. Winds could gust near 22 mph, especially along open roadways such as Interstate 87 and Interstate 90. Little accumulation is expected, but slushy bursts could briefly coat untreated roads.

Drivers across Albany, Troy, and Schenectady should plan extra time later today. Wet pavement combined with light snow may reduce visibility during heavier bursts of precipitation.

The weather briefly settles tonight as temperatures drop to the low-30s with lingering rain or snow showers possible. Saturday stays breezy with highs near 42°F. A few scattered rain or snow showers could move through during the morning before skies partially clear.

Another chilly shift arrives Sunday as colder air wraps into eastern New York. Snow showers could redevelop through the day with temperatures holding near 43°F. Most areas should see only light, brief snow bursts.

A stronger system arrives Monday, bringing a sharp warmup and widespread rain. Temperatures surge to around 63°F across the Capital Region, and rain becomes steady by afternoon. Gusty winds may accompany the rain as the system intensifies.

Colder air returns Monday night. Rain may mix with snow before ending early Tuesday, and some patchy slick spots could develop on bridges and overpasses.

Meteorologists continue tracking this active March pattern across eastern New York.
