Boise, Idaho – A surge of spring warmth could push Boise temperatures toward 75°F by Thursday afternoon, creating a rapid warmup across Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming as a strong ridge of high pressure builds across the western United States.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of the Intermountain West faces a moderate to high probability of above-normal temperatures during the March 19–25 period, with the warmest conditions centered over Idaho, northern Utah, and western Wyoming.

Daytime highs across the region may run 10 to 20 degrees above mid-March averages, with Boise, Twin Falls, and Idaho Falls climbing into the upper 60s to mid-70s by late week. In Utah, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo could see afternoon temperatures reaching the mid to upper 70s, while southern Utah locations such as St. George may push toward the low 80s.

Across Wyoming, cities including Cheyenne, Casper, and Rock Springs could rise into the upper 50s and 60s, well above seasonal norms. Rapid snowmelt may begin in lower elevations and foothills, especially along corridors like Interstate 15 in Utah, Interstate 84 in southern Idaho, and Interstate 80 across southern Wyoming.

Warmer afternoons combined with lingering mountain snowpack could also increase runoff into regional rivers and streams. Residents near creeks and foothill drainage areas should monitor water levels and remain alert for localized flooding.

The above-normal temperature pattern is expected to persist across the Intermountain West through the March 19–25 window, and additional outlooks or advisories may be issued if the warm trend intensifies.
