Madison, IN – Strong thunderstorms moving along the Ohio River Wednesday morning have placed parts of southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky under a Tornado Watch, with the threat of rotating storms lingering through late morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, Tornado Watch 41 remains in effect until noon Wednesday for Jefferson County in Indiana and Henry and Trimble counties in Kentucky. Atmospheric conditions support storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, hail, and isolated tornadoes as the system moves east.
Cities within the watch area include Madison and the Madison Municipal Airport in Indiana, along with Eminence, Milton, Bedford, and Sligo in Kentucky. Storms tracking near the Ohio River corridor could create sudden visibility issues for drivers along U.S. 421, U.S. 42, and nearby rural roadways.
Local emergency management officials urge residents to stay alert for warnings and move indoors if threatening weather develops. Have mobile alerts enabled, charge electronic devices, and identify a safe shelter area such as an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
The severe weather threat is expected to diminish around midday as the storm line pushes east, but additional alerts could be issued if storms intensify before noon.
