Fort Worth, Texas – Residents across North Texas face a dangerous night of severe weather as tornado-producing storms and destructive hail threaten the Dallas–Fort Worth region through late Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Tornado Watch remains in effect until 11 p.m. CDT Tuesday for areas near and north of Interstate 20, including the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, Sherman, Graham, and surrounding communities.

Storms developing across the region could produce a few tornadoes, hail up to 4 inches in diameter, and damaging wind gusts approaching 80 mph. These conditions could quickly create hazardous travel along major highways such as Interstate 35, Interstate 20, and U.S. 287.

Farther south and east of I-35, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues until 2 a.m. Wednesday, covering communities including Waco, Killeen, and Centerville. Storms in this area could produce wind gusts up to 70 mph, hail up to 2 inches, and isolated tornadoes overnight.

Emergency managers urge residents to have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including weather alerts on mobile phones and NOAA Weather Radio. Anyone in the tornado watch area should be ready to move quickly to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building if warnings are issued.

The severe weather threat will continue across North and Central Texas overnight, and additional warnings could be issued if storms begin producing rotation or large hail.
