Washington – A cold, gray morning settles over Spokane as pale light filters through scattered clouds. The air feels sharp, and temperatures hover near the mid-30s.

Sidewalks remain dry for now, but conditions may shift later today. Meteorologists are watching a weak system approaching eastern Washington.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, mostly sunny skies will develop for a time this afternoon. Temperatures climb to around 43°F across the city.

By mid to late afternoon, however, a 20 percent chance of snow showers could develop. Winds from the southwest may gust up to 25 mph, adding a brisk edge to the day.

Drivers along Interstate 90, U.S. 395, and Highway 2 should remain alert for scattered snow bursts late in the day. Even light snow can briefly reduce visibility.

Tonight turns colder with lows near 27°F. A 30 percent chance of snow lingers through the evening hours, though little accumulation is expected.

Sunshine returns briefly tomorrow with highs again near 43°F. That calm window will be short-lived.

Meteorologists are now tracking a stronger Pacific system expected to reach the Inland Northwest midweek.

By Wednesday, precipitation becomes much more widespread. Snow may develop during the morning before changing to rain by afternoon as temperatures climb near 48°F.

Wind will also increase. Gusty conditions could develop across the Spokane Valley and surrounding areas, making for a raw, wet midweek commute.

Rain continues into Thursday with breezy conditions and highs near 51°F. At higher elevations, snow remains possible.

For spring break travelers crossing eastern Washington or heading toward Idaho and Montana, changing road conditions may develop quickly.

Looking ahead, warmer spring air could return later in March as temperatures trend above average.
