Nevada – A crisp early-morning chill lingers over Reno as the sun rises above the Sierra. Calm winds and clear skies are setting the stage for a rapid warm-up.

Temperatures start the day cool across the Truckee Meadows. Thermometers hover near the upper 30s early, leaving a noticeable bite in the air.

Sunshine quickly takes over as the morning progresses. According to the National Weather Service in Reno, temperatures climb toward 70°F this afternoon, marking one of the warmest days so far this March.

Light west winds develop later in the day, generally staying near 5 mph, keeping conditions calm across the region.

Drivers along Interstate 80, U.S. 395, and Highway 580 should see smooth travel today thanks to clear skies and dry pavement.

The bigger story this week is the steady warming trend across western Nevada.

After a mild afternoon today, temperatures cool again tonight with lows near 38°F. That cooler nighttime air remains common across the high desert this time of year.

Tuesday stays mostly sunny with highs near 65°F. Breezes may pick up slightly during the afternoon, but overall conditions remain quiet.

By Wednesday, warmer spring air expands across the region. High temperatures climb back near 70°F under mostly sunny skies.

The warmest air arrives late in the week. Reno could reach 75°F Thursday, bringing a strong early taste of spring across northern Nevada.

For spring break travelers heading across the Sierra Nevada, conditions remain favorable through much of the week. Snow is expected to stay confined to higher mountain elevations.

Longer-range outlooks suggest above-average temperatures continuing into mid-March across the West.

With spring officially arriving March 20, the region is already getting a preview of the warmer season ahead.
