Wisconsin — Bright March sunshine spills across the Fox River this morning as mild air pushes into northeast Wisconsin. Sidewalks dry quickly while commuters move through Green Bay under calm early-spring skies.
Temperatures climb rapidly today, reaching around 63°F this afternoon, well above seasonal averages. A light southwest breeze drifts across Lambeau Field and the nearby shoreline of Green Bay.
Drivers along Interstate 41, US-41, and Highway 172 should expect smooth travel through the morning and afternoon hours. Roads remain dry and visibility stays excellent.
The quiet stretch will not last long.
Meteorologists are now tracking a significant midweek pattern change that could bring rain, snow, and even freezing rain to northeast Wisconsin.
Clouds increase Tuesday as cooler air pushes south from Canada. High temperatures fall sharply to around 42°F, and gusty northeast winds could reach 25 to 30 mph.
Conditions begin deteriorating Tuesday night. Rain will likely develop first, then transition to a wintry mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain toward early Wednesday morning.
By Wednesday, March 11, colder air deepens across the region. Snow showers become more likely through the morning hours while strong north winds push across Lake Michigan.
Even light accumulation could create slushy or slick roadways, especially during the early commute. Bridges and elevated roads may freeze first if temperatures hover near the freezing mark.
Residents should allow extra travel time and monitor conditions closely through midweek.
Another disturbance arrives Thursday night into Friday, bringing additional chances for rain or snow across the Green Bay region.
River conditions are also being monitored across northeast Wisconsin. Melting ice and recent rainfall could produce localized river rises or ice jam flooding in some locations.
