Wisconsin – Warm sunshine is spreading across Milwaukee this morning, and it briefly feels like spring along Lake Michigan. Temperatures are already climbing quickly, and the air feels mild for early March. But a sharp midweek shift could bring rain changing to snow across southeastern Wisconsin.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, highs will reach around 68°F today, far above seasonal averages. Southwest winds between 10 and 15 mph help push the warmth across Milwaukee County, Waukesha, and Racine.

The warm spell will not last long. Clouds increase late tonight as cooler air begins sliding toward Wisconsin from the Plains. Temperatures fall to around 39°F, still mild enough to keep roads dry through the night.

Conditions start changing Tuesday. Patchy morning fog may briefly reduce visibility between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., especially near Lake Michigan and along I-94 and I-43. A few light showers could develop later in the afternoon, though much of the day remains dry with highs near 44°F.

The bigger shift arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday. Rain showers spread across southeastern Wisconsin during the early hours before colder air filters in.

By late Wednesday morning into the afternoon, rain may mix with and briefly change to wet snow across the Milwaukee metro area. Temperatures hover near 40°F, limiting accumulation, but bursts of snow could briefly reduce visibility and make bridges slick.

Drivers should watch elevated roadways and overpasses where temperatures drop fastest. Wet pavement combined with colder air may create localized slick spots during heavier showers.

Behind the system, cooler air settles into Wisconsin late week. Sunshine returns Thursday, but highs remain near 43°F with brisk winds near the lake.

Temperatures stay seasonable through Friday while another chance of rain or snow lingers. Long-range signals suggest warmer spring weather may return next week as the Midwest gradually transitions toward the March 20 start of spring.

Spring break travel is ramping up nationwide, so anyone driving across Wisconsin interstates should monitor changing weather through midweek.
