Blacksburg, Virginia — Warmer temperatures are expected across southwest Virginia through midweek before a cold front brings rain and cooler air later in the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Sunday will remain mostly cloudy with showers likely, with temperatures reaching 70 to 75 degrees across the Piedmont and upper 50s to mid-60s in the mountains.
Conditions improve Monday with dry weather and mostly sunny skies, while highs climb into the mid to upper 70s across lower elevations.
Temperatures are expected to continue warming Tuesday as clouds increase. Forecast highs could reach 78 to 82 degrees across the Piedmont, with mid-60s to mid-70s in mountain communities.
Rain chances increase Wednesday as showers and thunderstorms become possible, with highs ranging from 80 to 84 degrees in the Piedmont and upper 60s to upper 70s in the mountains.
A cold front is expected to move through early Thursday, bringing numerous showers and a noticeable cooldown.
Forecasters say a few snowflakes could mix in across higher elevations of the mountains as colder air moves into the region.
