Nashville, Tennessee — A line of rain and thunderstorms is expected to move across Middle Tennessee Saturday, bringing gusty winds and periods of heavy rain from mid-morning into the early evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the entire region is under a Level 1 Marginal Risk for severe weather, the lowest category on the Storm Prediction Center’s five-level severe storm scale.

Forecasters say the storms will develop along a cold front moving west to east across Tennessee, forming a line of showers and thunderstorms expected to cross the region late Saturday morning and continue into the afternoon.

The primary impacts expected with the system include gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall, especially within stronger thunderstorms embedded within the broader line of rain.

Meteorologists say the tornado threat remains very low, though isolated storms could briefly produce stronger wind gusts.

Timing projections show the storm line entering western Middle Tennessee late in the morning, reaching the Nashville metro area around midday or early afternoon before pushing east toward the Cumberland Plateau by early evening.

While widespread severe weather is not expected, residents are encouraged to remain weather aware throughout the day, especially if outdoor activities are planned.

Commuters, students, and weekend travelers may encounter brief downpours and reduced visibility, particularly during heavier storms moving through the region.

Forecasters advise residents to monitor updates and ensure weather alerts are enabled in case conditions change.
