Phoenix, Arizona – Cooler temperatures are expected across the Phoenix area on Friday before a warming trend returns this weekend and into early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, high temperatures Friday will remain in the low to mid-70s, noticeably cooler than earlier this week.
The cooler conditions are being accompanied by breezy winds across parts of the region, especially in areas of south-central Arizona and nearby desert locations.
Cities including Phoenix, Glendale, Mesa, and Tempe are expected to see highs near 73 degrees Friday, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 40s to around 50 degrees.
Other parts of southern Arizona will see similar cooler conditions. Globe and Miami are expected to reach highs near 61 degrees Friday, while Yuma and El Centro may see highs around 75 degrees.
Temperatures are forecast to gradually warm through the weekend, with highs climbing back into the upper 70s Saturday and the mid to upper 80s by Sunday across much of the Phoenix metro area.
Meteorologists say another weather system developing to the southwest could bring locally windy conditions across southeast California through Saturday.
While the weekend will mainly be dry, a chance of light rain may develop Monday as that system moves closer to Arizona.
Forecast models currently suggest light precipitation chances mainly early next week, though rainfall amounts are expected to remain relatively low.
Following the brief cooldown early next week, temperatures are expected to rise again later in the week, with highs potentially reaching the low to mid-90s across the Phoenix area.
Officials encourage residents to stay updated on forecast changes, especially as the system early next week could bring changes in rain chances and wind conditions.
