Louisville, Kentucky – Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected across Kentucky Friday, with several cities potentially nearing or breaking daily record highs.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, afternoon temperatures are forecast to climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s across much of the region.

These readings are significantly above normal for early March and could challenge long-standing temperature records at several weather stations.

Forecast highs include around 81°F in Louisville, which would approach the daily record of 78°F set in 2023.

In Lexington, temperatures are expected to reach around 80°F, nearing the record high of 77°F set in 1973.

Meanwhile, Bowling Green could see highs near 84°F, matching the city’s record from 1910, while Frankfort may reach around 82°F, close to the record of 80°F set in 1983.

Communities including Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, Frankfort, and Elizabethtown will experience the warmest temperatures during the afternoon hours.

Drivers traveling along major highways such as Interstate 64, Interstate 65, and Interstate 71 may notice unusually mild conditions for this time of year as temperatures climb well above seasonal averages.

Forecasters say the warm pattern could continue through much of the upcoming week, with above-normal temperatures expected across the region through Wednesday.

Despite the warm conditions, meteorologists note that cooler air and storm systems could return later this weekend, bringing changes to the weather pattern.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the mild weather while staying aware of upcoming forecast updates as additional systems move toward the region.
