Huntsville, Alabama – A stretch of unsettled weather is expected across northern Alabama through early next week, bringing daily chances of showers and thunderstorms.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, rain and storms are possible each day through Monday, with the greatest concern arriving Saturday when a few storms could become strong to severe.
Friday’s weather will feature scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rain chances between 30% and 40%. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid-70s to low-80s, with overnight lows dropping into the lower to mid-60s.
The risk for stronger storms increases Saturday afternoon and evening, when forecasters say a low risk of severe thunderstorms exists across the region.
If stronger storms develop, damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rainfall will be the primary hazards.
Communities including Huntsville, Decatur, Athens, Florence, and Scottsboro could experience periods of rain and thunderstorms as the system moves through northern Alabama.
Motorists traveling along major routes such as Interstate 565, Interstate 65, and U.S. Highway 72 may encounter brief heavy downpours, lightning, and reduced visibility during stronger storms.
High temperatures Saturday are expected to reach the low to upper 70s, with rain chances increasing to 60% to 90%.
Storm chances remain elevated through the rest of the weekend. Sunday is expected to bring additional showers and thunderstorms, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
The unsettled pattern continues Monday, with rain chances between 40% and 70% and temperatures climbing back into the low to upper 70s.
