Pueblo, Colorado – Snowfall is expected to spread across portions of southern Colorado Friday, with the heaviest accumulations likely in the mountains and higher elevations.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, new probabilistic snowfall data shows a wide range of potential snow totals across the region through the weekend.
Mountain areas are expected to receive the highest snowfall amounts, while lower elevations may see lighter accumulations or only brief periods of snow.
Communities including Colorado Springs, Canon City, Salida, Walsenburg, and Trinidad may see snowfall as the system moves across the region.
Higher elevation locations such as Monarch Pass, Wolf Creek Pass, and areas along the Continental Divide could see several inches of accumulation, with the potential for double-digit totals in some mountain areas.
Drivers traveling through mountain corridors including U.S. Highway 50, U.S. Highway 160, and Interstate 25 near higher terrain could encounter snow-covered roads, reduced visibility, and difficult travel conditions.
Forecast probabilities show a strong chance of measurable snowfall across many mountain communities, while plains locations may experience more limited totals.
Cities along the eastern plains including Pueblo, La Junta, and Lamar are expected to see little to no accumulation in most forecasts.
Meteorologists say snowfall will continue expanding across the region Friday before gradually diminishing later tonight.
Travel impacts are most likely in the mountains and higher terrain, where heavier snowfall bands may develop.
Residents and travelers across southern Colorado are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and check road conditions before traveling through mountain passes.
Conditions are expected to improve gradually as the system moves out of the region heading into the weekend.
