Park City, Utah – Snow falling across Utah’s mountain corridors is expected to intensify through the evening, creating slick canyon roads and hazardous travel for drivers heading through the Wasatch Back and nearby high passes.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 a.m. Friday for the Wasatch Back and parts of southwest Wyoming, including Park City, Heber City, Huntsville, Evanston, and Lyman. Snowfall totals in these communities may reach 2 inches, with locally up to 3 inches near Park City, which could impact the Thursday evening commute.

Heavier snowfall is expected across Utah’s higher terrain. Advisories remain in effect through 5 p.m. Friday for the Wasatch Mountains, Western Uinta Mountains, and Central Mountains, where 4 to 10 inches of snow is likely, with 12 to 15 inches possible in favored slopes near Alta, Brighton, and Logan Summit. Snow-covered roads are also expected along Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons and high elevation routes like the Mirror Lake Highway.

Further south, the Tushar Mountains near Brian Head could see up to 12 inches of snow, while areas around Soldier Summit and Daniels Summit may experience 2 to 5 inches.

Drivers should reduce speeds and check UDOT road conditions at udottraffic.utah.gov before traveling through mountain routes.

Snow will gradually taper late Friday afternoon, though slick roads may persist in shaded mountain areas even after the advisory expires.
