Missouri – Headlights glow through thick gray fog across Kansas City this morning as humid air settles over the metro and visibility drops on several major roads.

Drivers moving along Interstate 70, I-35, and I-435 are encountering misty conditions and damp pavement during the early commute. Visibility has dipped to around 2.5 miles in parts of the city.

Temperatures sit near 47°F with saturated air creating widespread fog across the Kansas City metro.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until around 7 a.m. as low visibility continues across portions of western Missouri and eastern Kansas.

Conditions should gradually improve later in the morning as clouds begin to lift and warmer air spreads into the region.

Afternoon temperatures will climb toward 65°F, bringing a mild early-March feel across Jackson County, Clay County, and surrounding suburbs.

The calm weather does not last long.

Showers and thunderstorms become possible tonight as a developing storm system strengthens across the central Plains.

Rain chances increase sharply by Friday.

Meteorologists say widespread showers and storms could develop across the Kansas City metro, Overland Park, and Independence, with precipitation chances climbing near 80 percent.

Some storms could bring heavier rainfall and gusty winds as warm, unstable air spreads north from Oklahoma and Kansas.

Conditions begin improving by Saturday.

Sunshine returns with highs near 54°F, and skies remain mostly clear Saturday night.

Sunday looks bright and mild with highs around 66°F across the Kansas City area.

The weekend also brings the return of Daylight Saving Time, when clocks move forward one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Longer evenings will quickly follow.

Early next week turns even warmer. Highs could reach the upper 70s by Monday, signaling the first strong hints of spring across Missouri and Kansas.

If you’re heading out this morning, how thick is the fog in your neighborhood?
