Pennsylvania – Headlights glow faintly through thick gray fog across Pittsburgh this morning as visibility drops quickly on city streets and major highways.
Drivers across Allegheny County are navigating dense fog conditions through mid-morning, especially along river valleys and bridges where moisture lingers close to the ground. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory through 10 a.m., warning that visibility may fall below a quarter mile at times.
Travel along I-376, I-279, Route 28, and the Parkway West could slow quickly where fog thickens near the rivers. Wet pavement and misty air are combining to create tricky driving conditions across the metro area.
Meteorologists say the fog will gradually lift later this morning. However, gray skies remain as a new round of rain spreads into western Pennsylvania.
Periods of rain continue through the day with thunderstorms possible during the afternoon. Temperatures climb to around 66°F, bringing a mild but damp feel across Pittsburgh and surrounding communities like Mount Lebanon, Monroeville, and Cranberry Township.
Rain lingers into tonight with lows near 57°F and patchy fog redeveloping in some valleys.
Conditions improve slightly heading into Friday as showers taper. Skies remain mostly cloudy, but temperatures surge to around 71°F, marking the warmest stretch of the week.
A stronger round of weather may arrive this weekend. Showers and thunderstorms become likely Saturday with highs climbing near 77°F. Wet roads and occasional lightning could impact travel and outdoor plans.
Sunday turns noticeably calmer with sunshine returning and highs near 60°F.
Early Sunday morning also brings the Daylight Saving Time change, when clocks jump forward at 2 a.m., extending evening daylight across western Pennsylvania.
Looking ahead, meteorologists expect temperatures to remain mild into early next week with highs pushing the upper 60s to low 70s.
For now, drivers should slow down during foggy conditions and allow extra space between vehicles.
