Florida – Headlights glow through thick morning fog across Jacksonville as humid air blankets highways and neighborhoods, briefly slowing travel across northeast Florida.
Drivers along I-95, I-295, and the Arlington Expressway are encountering patches of dense fog where visibility drops quickly near marshes and waterways. The fog sits low across parts of Duval County and could linger through mid-morning.
According to the National Weather Service, areas of dense fog will persist through roughly mid-morning before skies gradually brighten. Once the fog lifts, sunshine breaks through and temperatures surge to around 81°F, signaling a burst of early spring warmth across Jacksonville.
Light winds between 6 and 11 mph help mix the air later today, allowing visibility to improve. Roads dry quickly as sunshine returns during the afternoon.
Mild conditions continue tonight with lows near 63°F and only patchy fog returning in isolated spots.
The warming trend strengthens heading into the weekend. Friday turns mostly sunny with highs near 82°F, while Saturday climbs to 83°F under a mix of sun and scattered clouds. A brief 20 percent chance of showers may develop during the afternoon, but most neighborhoods stay dry.
Sunday looks even warmer with highs pushing 85°F across Jacksonville and surrounding communities including Orange Park, Atlantic Beach, and Ponte Vedra.
Early Sunday morning also brings the Daylight Saving Time change, when clocks jump forward at 2 a.m., giving Florida longer daylight evenings through the rest of March.
Meteorologists expect the warm pattern to continue early next week. Highs remain in the mid-80s, reinforcing strong early spring vibes across northeast Florida.
For now, drivers should slow down during foggy conditions this morning and use low-beam headlights where visibility drops.
