Tallahassee, Florida – Visibility could drop to one-quarter mile or less along I-10 and US-319 before sunrise Thursday as another round of dense fog develops across the Florida Big Bend and south Georgia. Drivers heading out before 9 a.m. should allow extra time and be prepared for sudden visibility changes, especially near wooded and low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, there is a low to medium chance, between 10% and 60%, of dense fog forming overnight into Thursday morning. The highest risk stretches from south Georgia into northwest Florida. Fog is expected to develop this evening and persist through sunrise, gradually lifting between 9 and 10 a.m. Eastern.

Communities including Valdosta, Albany, Dothan, and Panama City may see pockets of thick fog, particularly along I-75, US-82, and US-98. Intersections and rural highways could experience the most abrupt drops in visibility. While widespread road closures are not anticipated, motorists should use low-beam headlights and avoid high beams, which can worsen glare in fog.

Beyond the fog threat, temperatures will run well above normal through the first half of next week. Afternoon highs will climb into the 80s across much of north Florida and south Georgia, creating early-season warmth that may feel more like late spring.

Fog should clear by mid-morning Thursday, but additional advisories are possible if visibility drops more than expected overnight.
