Omaha, Nebraska – Wednesday — Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop late Thursday night into early Friday morning across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, with a small but notable chance of isolated severe storms.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, there is a 30–50% chance of thunderstorms developing after midnight. Forecasters say there is a 5–10% chance that any individual storm could become severe.

The primary hazards include hail up to quarter size and localized wind gusts between 50 and 55 mph. The highest threat window appears to be between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. Friday, with peak activity likely around the early morning hours.

The overall severe risk level remains marginal, meaning widespread severe weather is not expected, but isolated strong storms are possible.

Communities including Omaha, Lincoln, Sioux City, Council Bluffs, and surrounding areas fall within the outlined risk zone.

Residents with early Friday travel plans are encouraged to monitor weather updates and ensure they have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially overnight when storms are most likely.

Further updates will be issued if watches or warnings become necessary.
