Atlanta, Georgia – A damp, cooler pattern is lining up across Georgia and northern Florida ahead of St. Patrick’s Day, with repeated rounds of rain and daytime temperatures running below the typical early-spring warmth between March 11 and March 17.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, both Georgia and Florida fall within a 40-50% probability zone for above-normal precipitation during the 8-14 day period. While temperatures are projected to trend near to slightly above seasonal averages overall, persistent cloud cover and rainfall could keep daytime highs feeling cooler, especially during steady rain.

In Atlanta and along the Interstate 75 corridor, highs in the 50s may accompany periods of moderate rainfall as multiple systems track across the Deep South. Reduced visibility and ponding on roadways are possible during heavier bursts, particularly during peak commute hours.

Across central and north Florida, including Jacksonville and Tallahassee, highs in the 60s will likely keep all precipitation as rain. However, extended cloudy periods and occasional breezy conditions could create a gray, damp feel. South Florida, including Orlando and Tampa, may see scattered showers but milder readings overall.

Motorists along Interstate 10, Interstate 75 and Interstate 95 should prepare for slower travel during steadier rainfall. While widespread flooding is not expected at this time, localized standing water is possible in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Additional updates are expected as the March 11-17 window approaches and system timing becomes clearer.
