New York – Headlights blur into a gray curtain along the Lake Erie shoreline this morning, and the air feels raw at 34 degrees in Buffalo. Dense fog cuts visibility to a quarter mile in spots, especially near the water and higher hilltops inland.

A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Black ice has also formed where wet pavement met temperatures near freezing. Bridges, overpasses and untreated side streets are the biggest concern.

If you’re traveling on I-90, the 190 or Route 33, slow down and increase following distance. Slick patches may appear suddenly, particularly on ramps and elevated roadways.

Fog gradually thins late this morning. Skies brighten this afternoon with highs near 48 degrees. Road conditions improve as temperatures rise above freezing and surfaces dry out.

Clouds increase tonight with lows near 33. Thursday turns unsettled with rain developing, mainly after midday. Highs reach the low 40s, and rain continues into Thursday night.

Friday moderates to the mid-50s under mostly cloudy skies. Showers become likely Friday night. Saturday turns breezy with showers and highs near 61 degrees, a noticeable March warmup for western New York.

Sunday brings partial sunshine and highs in the upper 40s. Early next week trends milder again, with highs pushing toward the upper 50s to near 60 by Monday and Tuesday. Longer-range guidance hints at above-normal temperatures holding into the 6–10 day outlook.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. We gain evening daylight, but this late winter stretch still carries flash-freeze risks when moisture lingers after sunset.

Five Day Outlook for Buffalo, NY:
Today: Fog early, then partly sunny, high 48.
Thursday: Rain developing, high 42.
Friday: Mostly cloudy, high 56.
Saturday: Showers and breezy, high 61.
Sunday: Partly sunny, high 48.
