Green Bay, Wisconsin – Patchy fog could reduce visibility below one mile along US-141 and I-43 after midnight Wednesday, creating slick spots and sudden slowdowns before the Thursday morning commute. Drivers traveling between Brown County and Manitowoc County should prepare for changing conditions within the next several hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, dry and calm weather overnight will give way to increasing rain chances beginning Thursday, with the steadiest and most widespread rainfall expected Friday into Friday night. Rainfall totals between 1 and 2 inches are possible across central and east-central Wisconsin, with locally higher amounts in heavier bands.

The wet pattern may impact major routes including I-41, Highway 172, and stretches of US-41, especially during peak travel times Friday afternoon and evening. Ponding water could develop on low-lying roadways and ramps, particularly in urban Green Bay and along the Fox River corridor. While thunderstorms are not expected to be widespread, a few embedded rumbles cannot be ruled out Friday night.

By Saturday, lingering light rain could mix with wet snow in parts of northeastern Wisconsin before colder air settles in. Winds may strengthen Sunday, with gusts approaching 40 mph capable of pushing around unsecured objects and making travel difficult for high-profile vehicles on I-43 near the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Motorists should allow extra travel time, use low-beam headlights in fog, and avoid standing water on roadways. Rain chances taper late Saturday, but breezy conditions may continue into Sunday afternoon. Additional advisories could be issued if rainfall totals trend higher.
