Oregon Weather Alert Today: 62° Sunshine in Pendleton Before 100% Rain and 25 mph Gusts Wednesday

Oregon’s high desert starts the morning crisp and calm, with 45 degrees in Pendleton and a light breeze brushing across open fields. Skies remain mostly clear after 9 a.m., and roads along I-84 are dry for now.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, sunshine mixes with clouds today as highs climb to near 62 degrees. Winds shift northwest this afternoon at 5 to 7 mph, keeping conditions mild and comfortable.

Clouds thicken tonight, and rain develops with a 50 percent chance by late evening. By Wednesday, rain becomes widespread with a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Highs cool to near 52 degrees. Rainfall totals between a tenth and a quarter inch are possible. Winds increase to 11 to 16 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph, especially in exposed areas.

Showers taper Wednesday night but linger into Thursday with another 40 percent chance of rain and highs near 50. Friday trends drier with partial sunshine and a high near 55.

Snow is not expected in Pendleton, but higher elevations of the Blues could see light accumulations as colder air filters in midweek.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer daylight arrives just as temperatures gradually rebound. Weekend highs reach the lower 60s, and early signals into next week hint at near to slightly above normal readings across Eastern Oregon.
