Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – A light glaze of ice and up to one inch of snow could make roads slick within the next few hours as mixed precipitation spreads across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and northern Delaware before sunrise Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect at varying times through the day. Wilmington and Pennsville are under an advisory until 8 a.m. Tuesday. Philadelphia, Camden, Gloucester and surrounding suburbs face slick travel from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. Central New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania, including Trenton, West Chester and Norristown, remain under advisories until 11 a.m. Farther north, Sussex, Warren and Morris counties in New Jersey are under an advisory from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while Carbon and Monroe counties in Pennsylvania could see ice up to one tenth of an inch through 7 p.m.

Major routes including I-95, I-295, the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-78 may develop icy overpasses first. In the Poconos, Route 209 and elevated stretches of I-80 could remain slick into the evening commute.

Drivers should slow down, allow extra braking distance and check 511 for live road conditions. While snowfall totals remain light, even a thin glaze can freeze untreated bridges and sidewalks. Conditions are expected to improve gradually from south to north later Tuesday, though isolated slick spots may linger.
