North Carolina – A crisp, gray sky hangs over Raleigh this morning, and the air still carries a late-winter bite. Temperatures sit near 41 degrees, with a light northeast breeze keeping wind chills in the upper 30s. Jackets are still a must for the school run and mid-morning commute along I-40 and the Beltline.
According to the National Weather Service, clouds gradually thin through the day as highs reach 59 degrees. Winds ease and turn calmer by afternoon. Roads remain dry, and visibility stays clear, but the temperature swing will feel dramatic compared to the past few mornings.
The real shift begins midweek. Sunshine increases Wednesday with highs soaring to 75 degrees. By Thursday, mostly sunny skies push readings near 79. Friday climbs even higher, reaching 82 degrees under bright March sun.
That’s a 40-degree rebound in just a few days.
Meteorologists are now tracking a broad warm pattern across much of the eastern United States. This surge of spring warmth stretches into the weekend, with highs holding in the lower 80s Saturday and near 81 Sunday. Showers may return late Sunday into early Monday, but no wintry weather concerns are in sight.
Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. We gain evening daylight, and North Carolina will add nearly an hour of extra sun by month’s end.
The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures into early next week. Spring vibes are building fast across the Triangle.
