It’s 35 degrees late this morning, and light rain continues to drift across Breathitt County. Drivers are moving cautiously where visibility briefly drops in patchy fog.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, rain chances remain near 80% through today, with highs reaching 47 degrees. Light east winds hold steady, and rainfall amounts could reach a quarter inch. Expect wet roads through the afternoon and reduced visibility at times on the Mountain Parkway.

Clouds linger into tonight with another 40% chance of rain and areas of fog after 11 p.m. Temperatures hover near 47 this evening before settling into the upper 40s. With cool ground temperatures still in place, any clearing toward daybreak Tuesday could allow damp spots to refreeze briefly on bridges. Watch for isolated slick patches during the early commute.

Tuesday brings a noticeable March shift. Highs climb to 66 degrees with a 50% chance of showers, mainly before 9 a.m. Winds turn southwest and gust up to 15 mph. By Wednesday, highs jump to 75 degrees with only a slight 20% shower chance. Thursday pushes even warmer, near 77 degrees, with scattered afternoon showers and a rumble of thunder possible.
