St. Louis, Mo. – Drivers along I-64 and I-44 should prepare for repeated rounds of rain and possible thunderstorms through Friday evening, with temperatures surging toward 80 degrees by the end of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, an active pattern will bring multiple opportunities for rainfall beginning Tuesday and continuing into Friday. While exact timing of each round remains uncertain, forecasters say substantial, drought-improving rainfall is increasingly likely across eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois.

Highs Monday remain in the 40s, but a sharp warmup begins Tuesday with temperatures climbing into the 50s and lower 70s. By Wednesday and Thursday, highs push into the upper 50s to low 70s across the metro area, including St. Charles, Chesterfield and Belleville. The warmest day appears to be Friday, when readings could reach 75 to 80 degrees along the I-270 corridor.

Periods of rain may cause ponding on roadways, especially during heavier downpours. Motorists on I-55 and I-70 should watch for reduced visibility and slower traffic during peak commute hours. A few thunderstorms are possible midweek into Friday, capable of producing gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall.

Residents should clear storm drains, secure loose outdoor items and monitor updated forecasts as each system approaches. While severe weather is not guaranteed, isolated storms could disrupt travel plans.

Rain chances continue through Friday night as temperatures trend upward. Additional advisories may be issued if heavier rainfall or stronger storms develop later this week.
