New Hampshire – Breath turns to vapor instantly in the 10-degree air this morning, and the sun does little to ease the sharp chill across Manchester. Wind chills dipped below zero earlier, and even now it feels like midwinter despite the March sun.
According to the National Weather Service, today stays sunny with a high near 29 degrees. Winds remain light, but cold pavement lingers. Lows fall to 11 tonight under mostly clear skies.
Changes begin Tuesday. Clouds increase through midday as temperatures climb toward 39 degrees. A 60% chance of precipitation develops during the afternoon, starting as snow before 4 p.m., then mixing with rain. Less than a half inch of new snow is expected, but bursts could briefly coat I-93, Route 101, and secondary roads.
By Tuesday night, precipitation becomes more complex. Snow mixes with freezing rain between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then periods of snow and sleet continue. Even light ice can glaze untreated bridges. Slow down and allow extra braking distance.
Wednesday brings a sharp turnaround. After a slight chance of early freezing rain, skies turn sunny and temperatures jump to 51 degrees. That swing raises a flash-freeze concern later this week if melting snow refreezes during colder mornings.
Thursday reaches 44 with another chance of rain or snow early, followed by additional wintry mix late Thursday night into Friday. Highs Friday hover near 38.
The broader 6- to 10-day trend favors moderating temperatures and hints of early Spring warmth next week.
Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer daylight is coming fast.
