Ohio steps into March with bright sun and a sharp chill in the air, but changes are already lining up for Monday. Crisp pavement this morning could turn slick again by early Monday if light snow mixes in before rain takes over.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, dry weather holds today with sunshine and a high near 41 degrees. Winds from the north around 10 mph keep it brisk. Clouds build tonight as temperatures drop to 25. Monday begins with a slight chance of snow before 1 p.m., then a brief rain-snow mix through midafternoon. Highs reach 43 degrees, limiting accumulation, but a few slushy spots could form on bridges and rural roads.
Rain becomes more organized after 1 p.m. Monday night, with temperatures near 37 and an 80% chance of precipitation. Expect wet pavement for the Tuesday morning commute along U.S. 68 and I-71. By Tuesday, highs jump to 54 with a 90% chance of steady rain. Some areas could see up to a half inch of rainfall by Tuesday night. Repeated rounds of rain through midweek may increase localized flooding concerns, especially in low-lying fields and poor drainage areas.
Rain likely continues Wednesday and Thursday as highs climb into the mid to upper 60s. That’s a noticeable shift toward early Spring warmth. We gain nearly 90 minutes of daylight this month, and clocks spring forward at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8.
Longer-range trends favor above-normal temperatures into late week and beyond. For now, watch for slick spots Monday and ponding water by Tuesday. Traveling early this week? Let us know what you’re seeing on the roads.
